"My hypothesis" is that birth is inherently natural and physiological and the current high surgerical birth rates and high infant mortality rates are a result of sixty or more years of medical control of birth.
We will be able to see the approach and propoganda of the times that perhaps led to a lowered the infant mortality rate, but never to the level of other industrialized nations, and that has lead to the misuse of unresearched drugs and technology.
To the right is the title page and below is a welcome page. I apologize that I am unable to get it to display upright. I am unable to get permission from the author or publisher. I do give them full credit and appreciation for sharing it with you -- on behalf of my intention to contribute to lowering the infant mortality rate and making birth safer for babies, women, AND their caregivers. I am sure they'd want that as well.

Get ready to cry, laugh, get angry, and maybe feel sick deep down in your gut. Our guts, "our other brain" is very connected to our brain; our Limbic system - the early brain -- that remembers our own birth.
Stay tuned.
Anyone with history of medical birth and midwifery birth, especially prior to 1958, please feel free to contribute. janel underscore miranda at yahoo dot com.

Of *course* anyone else's advice is poor. They're not a DOCTOR!
Frget the fact that they might have popped out a dozen babies themselves, and your DOCTOR may be just out of med school - or may be the result of poor training designed to make medical practiice, not childbirth, easier (e.g. stirrups, the lithotomy position).
Don't get me wrong. There are some excellent doctors out there - my own GP is one of them. But I had to hunt hard and long to find him, and went through over a dozen GPs before finding one to my satisfaction.
Just because someone has a qualification doesn't mean they are any good in their field. Just because someone is trained in an area doesn't man that their training was wise, well-planned or effective. Or even up to date.
