It also emphasizes what was intuitively apparent to me even before I was pregnant for the first time, that what affects the mother - affects the baby. <br /><br />This is what originally steered me to a homebirth; concern for the effects of unnecessary stress on my baby. The homebirths were for them (my babies) much more than for me.<br /><br />When I see mothers in the clinic that are obviously stressed, I try to take extra care to be gentle and make a loving, supportive connection with them through whatever contact we have, even if it is brief.
